Public Advisory – Continued Increase In Patients At QEH AED

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) advises the public that its Accident & Emergency Department (AED) continues to experience a significant increase in patients.

The Department is treating persons with:

  • Respiratory illnesses
  • Complications associated with Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDs)
  • Trauma-related injuries
  • Injuries resulting from Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs)

Protect Yourself

Patients attending the AED are encouraged to wear a mask, particularly if they are experiencing respiratory symptoms. Vulnerable persons should also consider wearing a mask for added protection.

Collect Discharged Patients Promptly

Families and caregivers are asked to collect relatives promptly once they have been discharged. This supports patient flow and allows the Department to accommodate patients awaiting care.

Longer Waiting Times

Patients with non-life-threatening conditions may experience longer waiting times, as critical and life-threatening cases are prioritised.
