Public Advisory : Continued Patient Surge In The Accident & Emergency Department

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is advising the public that the Accident & Emergency Department (AED) continues to experience a significant increase in patient numbers.

Over the past several days, the Department has seen a surge in patients presenting with serious complications arising from non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Many of these patients require immediate medical intervention, placing considerable pressure on emergency services.

As a result, patients with non-life-threatening conditions may experience longer-than-usual waiting times while our clinical teams prioritise those requiring urgent and life-saving care under the Hospital’s triage system.

Patients who require medical advice or whose condition is not life-threatening are encouraged to conside the following options:

  • Contact the QEH Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 536-4800, available daily from 7:00 a.m. to midnight , for guidance on the most appropriate care.
  • Visit your nearest polyclinic during its operating hours or the 24-hour Winston Scott Polyclinic at Jemmotts Lane, St. Michael.
  • Consult your private healthcare provider for advice.

Patients experiencing life-threatening or critical conditions will continue to receive immediate care under the AED’s triage system.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital thanks the public for its patience, understanding, and cooperation as our dedicated healthcare teams continue to provide safe, timely, and compassionate care to everyone who needs it.
