QEH Advises Public of Increased Waiting Times at Accident and Emergency Department
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is advising the public that the Accident and Emergency Department is currently experiencing a significant surge in patient volumes.
This increase has been driven by a rise in trauma-related cases over the past two days, placing additional pressure on emergency services and clinical teams. As a result, patients with less urgent conditions may experience longer waiting times for assessment and treatment.
Despite these challenges, patients with critical and life-threatening conditions continue to receive immediate and priority care.
Important Information for the Public
- Patients with urgent and life-threatening conditions will be prioritised and treated immediately.
- Patients with less urgent conditions may experience delays due to the current surge in trauma cases.
- Persons who are unsure whether their condition requires a visit to the Accident and Emergency Department are encouraged to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS/Help Desk) at 536-4800. The PALS/Help Desk* is available by regular or WhatsApp call from 7:00 a.m. to midnight and provides guidance on the most appropriate next steps for care.
- For non-emergency medical concerns, members of the public are encouraged to access care through the 24-hour Fast-Track Service at the Winston Scott Polyclinic, attend any other polyclinic during regular opening hours, or consult a private physician.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital apologises for any inconvenience and thanks the public for its patience and understanding as it continues to manage increased demand for emergency services.
