Cancer Support Services Donates To QEH Ward C12

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has once again benefitted from the generosity of one of its longstanding partners, Cancer Support Services (CSS). Responding to a request from the hospital’s nursing team, CSS has donated 144 pieces of specially embroidered bed linen and six airflow mattresses valued at over BDS $2,000, to enhance patient comfort and care on Ward C12, which caters to cancer patients.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony held in the CEO’s Conference Room, Executive Director of Cancer Support Services, Ms. Jan Linton, explained that since adopting Ward C12 several years ago, CSS has made it a priority to continually support the ward and contribute to a more comfortable environment for patients in recovery or receiving palliative care. Ms. Linton noted that the green, embroidered linen adds a personalized touch, allowing the items to be easily identified as belonging to Ward C12.
Accepting the donation on behalf of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Nursing Officer Lisa Dodson expressed sincere appreciation to CSS for their ongoing support and responsiveness to the needs of both patients and staff.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director of Nursing Services (Quality), Ms. Andrea Scott, commended the organization for its continued partnership and generosity, noting that such contributions directly support the hospital’s efforts to improve the patient experience. Ms. Scott also highlighted that the donated mattresses will assist in reducing the incidence of pressure sores, one of the hospital’s key performance indicators for quality of care.
During the presentation, Ms. Linton also congratulated the QEH on the recent acquisition of its Linear Accelerator, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that will significantly enhance the availability and quality of cancer treatment services on the island. She remarked that this development will help alleviate some of the demands currently placed on Cancer Support Services and expressed optimism that the new service will be launched in November 2025.
The QEH extends heartfelt thanks to Cancer Support Services for their continued commitment to improving patient care and supporting the hospital’s mission to deliver excellence in healthcare.
