QEH Provides Update on Haematology Clinic Services

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, hosted a special patient engagement meeting with individuals of its Haematology Clinic to provide updates on the future of the clinic and the next steps in the care of patients with blood-related conditions.

The forum, which welcomed 65 patients and 36 relatives, was addressed by QEH Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Neil Clark, and Acting Director of Medical Services, Dr. John Gill. Both leaders assured patients that the hospital is actively pursuing every available option to resume full clinic operations as soon as possible.

Dr. Gill explained that requests for specialist support have been made overseas, and it is anticipated that doctors could be in place within the coming weeks to provide the required services. He noted that these efforts reflect the hospital’s unwavering commitment to continuity of care for haematology patients.

In addition, during the meeting, Dr. Gill took the time to speak with nearly every patient individually, listening to their concerns firsthand and providing guidance on treatment options going forward. This personal engagement underscores the hospital’s dedication to patient-centred care, even as broader systemic solutions are being put in place.

During the forum, patients voiced a range of concerns, and hospital management outlined mechanisms to ensure ongoing communication and support. To this end, the QEH has established dedicated channels for patients to raise queries or seek clarification:

  • Haematology Clinic Helpline: 836-3936

  • Email Contact: Haemo@qeh.gov.bb

  • Office of the Director of Medical Services: Call PBX 436-6450 and request transfer through the operator.

Management emphasized that these measures are intended to give patients clear avenues to have their concerns addressed while the hospital works urgently to secure specialist cover.

Mr. Clark reiterated the QEH’s commitment:

“Our patients are at the centre of everything we do. We are working diligently, both locally and internationally, to ensure continuity of care for all haematology patients. The establishment of direct communication channels is one way we are ensuring that no concern goes unheard as we transition through this period.”

The QEH extends its gratitude to patients and their families for their understanding and continued engagement as the hospital takes decisive steps to strengthen the Haematology Clinic and guarantee sustainable care delivery.
