The Human 60 - #QEH60
Friday May 10th, 2024 will be an historic occasion. That’s when, scores of QEH staff will gather on the hospital playing field for The Human 60. It’s estimated that 600 bodies are needed for the #QEH60 formation for a commemorative photo and to take part in the video production “Making of the Human 60”. The QEH 60th Anniversary Committee will be joined by the Rewards, Recognition and Retention (RRR) Committee to host an “After Work Lime” at the pavilion immediately after the event.
China builds on long-term partnership with QEH
With the Sixth Chinese medical team on the ground at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) over the past few months, a delegation led by the Ambassador to Barbados, Yan Xiusheng paid a visit to the Martindales Road facility. It wasn’t just a courtesy call. Ambassador Yan unveiled a BDS$300,000+ donation of medical supplies and equipment, including an Ultrasound machine, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), incubators and prothesis for hip surgery among other items. Ambassador Yan signed off the MOU and presented the generous donation to Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Christine Greenidge, Director of Engineering Services, Mrs. Paula Agbowu, , and Director of Financial Services, Mr. Adrian Hurley, of the QEH.
AED Expansion Project Complete
In the face of constant scrutiny and public criticism, the Accident and Emergency Department continues to show its resilience, meeting the demands of our patients.
The Accident and Emergency Department has now doubled in size and work is in progress to enhance the services offered. AED is now housed on one level, with 18 thousand square feet of space, up from 9000 sq. ft.. The original AED entrance has reopened. The Ambulance Bay has resumed normal operations after being used as a temporary entrance. QEH Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Neil Clark, has thanked the staff for their hard work and dedication during the transition period and has emphasized the hospital’s commitment to collaborating with partners and patients to optimize patient care pathways, ensuring individuals receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
JDA hails the work of retired Housekeeper
Recently, the Junior Doctors Association (JDA) through its president, Dr. Andre Graham paid tribute to retired housekeeper, Rosalind Jones. “In her 20-year tenure at the QEH Ms. Jones worked diligently, ensuring accommodation for junior doctors were kept in an orderly fashion. The benefit of such cannot be overstated” says Dr. Graham, who presented Ms. Jones with a token of appreciation, on behalf of the JDA for her dedication to services at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
