Fire In Electrical Room Contained

At approximately 2:05 p.m. today November 14th, 2023 the Barbados Fire Service responded to a sparking UPS (uninterrupted power supply) on the lower ground floor of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. By 3 p.m. the situation was contained and damage assessments are underway.

Power supply across the hospital plant continued uninterrupted, with the exception of the Accounts Department which was impacted by the affected UPS. Power to that department has since been restored.

The general operations of the hospital were uninterrupted, visiting hours remain as normal and there was no impact to patient care.

This incident will not affect our 59th anniversary celebrations, which will continue tomorrow as planned with the Open Day, where staff, patients and visitors will have the opportunity to get more information on the QEH’s services and enjoy some retail therapy.
