Executive Chairman’s New Year’s Day Message

Executive Chairman, Mrs Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland

At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) we are honoured to have been able to serve Barbados over this past grueling year. In the country’s hour of need our staff redeployed from the QEH to serve at the nearby Belleville Out-Patient Annex, and Enmore Isolation Centre, and established and managed 9 isolation centres; and assisted with the COVID-19 responses at the Geriatric Hospital, Psychiatric Hospital and five private nursing homes. At the same time, the team who remained at the QEH and its Accident and Emergency Department were required to do more with fewer resources and these amazing individuals met and surpassed all expectations for continued service provision.

As we proceed into 2022, we ask that Barbadians both at home and within the diaspora continue to give generously to the QEH and Harrison Point Isolation Centre (HPIC). In this regard, we offer the assurance that each and every dollar or donation received directly and positively benefits patients and will not be utilized to assist with the financing of administrative overheads.

Finally, we ask that you continue to keep our staff and patients in your thoughts and prayers because we need your support now more than ever. Many see the QEH simply as a State Owned Enterprise (SOE), and while this is indeed true I am here to tell you that this hospital is far more than that.

The QEH belongs to all uh we!

– Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, Executive Chairman
