Management of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in response to the Page 3 article carried in today’s Weekend Nation, Friday, July 15 and the report made by Ryan King wishes to point out the procedure for investigating all reports.
The QEH is aware of the incident and has instituted a protocol that mandates the reporting of all incidents to the Clinical Risk Department for an internal investigation. That protocol has been activated and an internal investigation is ongoing into Mr. King’s report.
At the end of the investigation which is based on a review of the patient’s notes and any other relevant information to the incident, Mr. King will be contacted and the contents of the report discussed.
This Clinical Risk protocol is designed to protect patients, staff and visitors and therefore, it is important that all officers report all adverse incidents to the Clinical Risk Department immediately. This protocol is in place to protect patients, staff and visitors.
The Hospital also points out that no Orthopaedic surgeries have been cancelled but all emergencies and urgencies are given preference.
The QEH understands that Mr. King is seeking legal action and therefore is not in a position to comment on the contents of the newspaper article or answer any further queries at this point.Leave a reply →
